Common questions
What does Verifyre actually check?
Every address goes through six stages: syntax, domain and MX records, disposable and role-account lists, a live SMTP handshake with the domain's mail server (we stop before sending anything), a catch-all probe, and a scored verdict. You see each stage settle in real time.
Does verifying an address send an email to it?
No. Verifyre opens an SMTP conversation and asks the server whether the mailbox exists (RCPT TO), then disconnects. No message is ever delivered and the recipient sees nothing.
How accurate is it?
Addresses marked deliverable are confirmed by the receiving mail server itself, so bounce rates on cleaned lists typically fall below 2%. Some providers (Yahoo, and catch-all domains) refuse to confirm individual mailboxes; those come back as risky or unknown with the reason, never as a guess.
What is a catch-all domain and why is it risky?
A catch-all domain accepts mail for any name, so the server says yes even for mailboxes that do not exist. Mail may still bounce later. Verifyre detects this by also trying a random address, and scores the result so you can decide whether to send.
How long does a bulk list take?
Verification runs in parallel with polite per-domain limits. Ten thousand addresses usually finish in a few minutes; very large lists run in the background and we email you when they are done.
